BAGNET FESTIVAL


Held every December, Narvacan is banking on the town’s culinary past to bring in more domestic and foreign tourist and reclaiming its position as the birthplace of bagnet, The delicacy that is a craze all over Ilocandia and to gourmands. Every Narvacan household still holds the secret to the special technique of preparing the crispiest and tastiest bagnet that has eluded the gastronomic inclinations of other Ilocano foodies which are also into bagnet production.


 

BINATBATAN FESTIVAL


Binatbatan Festival of Arts is a celebration of the culture and old industries of Vigan – especially the Abel Weaving Industry. Abel Weaving has been a part of Vigan’s culture even before the colonization of the Spaniards.

Binatbatan Festival came from the word “batbat” – the process of beating the cotton with the use of bamboo sticks to separate the seeds from the fiber that came from a tree called “kapas sanglay.” In Ilocano, “kapas” means coton.


 

PINAKBET FESTIVAL


A delicacy composed of a colorful medley of local vegetables, pork belly, and shrimp paste, coupled with the town's own personal beauty makes the perfect recipe for a bucketlist worthy festival .

Hosted by the town of Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur, it features street dances and cooking competitions in honor of the town's farmers industry and housewive's cooking skills.


 

RANIAG FESTIVAL


It is Halloween Season but in Vigan, Halloween is not covered by fear and a trembling effect of paranoia but it is full of lights and celebration.

This is how Vigan welcomes Halloween. It preludes the Halloween with festivities and glamorous parades. This festival is called the "RANIAG" TWILIGHT FESTIVAL. Raniag is an Ilocano word that is equivalent to shine, light or glare. The Raniag Twilight Festival is actually a series of activities and it is a week-long celebration prior to All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day.


 

SEMANA SANTA


St. Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral is the venue of religious rites during the Holy Week.

The Good Friday procession features decorated carrozas bearing life-size statues of Spanish vintage. On Easter Sunday, the dawn celebration depicting the Resurrection of Christ, called “Sabet,” is a scene to behold.


 

VIGAN CITY FIESTA


The provincial capital's premier festival, experience how the past beautifully blends with the present.

The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint.The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27. Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan, as it is the custom of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. They are joined by thousands of visitors from other parts of the Philippines and other countries in enjoying the cultural shows, parades and street dancing prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival.


 

LONGGANISA FESTIVAL


Aside from the Spanish heritage houses lining this northern town’s streets, Vigan is also known for its longganisa.

These plump, brown links of spicy meat, distinctly flavored with garlic and Ilocano sugar cane vinegar, are a staple item for breakfast. The Vigan longganisa is so famed that the Ilocanos begin their year by celebrating its existence. Highlight of the festival is the street dancing competition sporting the delicacy. Think about sausage costumes and props!.


 


FERIA DE CANDON


The “Feria de Candon” is a commemoration of Ilocos Sur’s trade fair exhibition that started in the province 126 years ago.

One of the main events feature the annual Electrical Float Parade, traditionally, a Señorita Feria de Candon or muses of different municipalities from the “Señorita Feria de Candon” beauty pageant would ride the floats. Other events include the Light a Tree contest, Feria de Candon Got Talent contest, and the aforemention Señorita Feria de Candon beauty pageant.


 

SINAIT GARLIC FESTIVAL


The Garlic Festival is held in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, known as the Garlic Center of the North. It is held during the 1st to 3rd of May.

This festival aims to showcase the talent, ingenuity and hard work of the Ilocano farmers. It also aims to encourage the farmers to mass high quality garlic using modern technology. The festival is the idea of Governor DV Savellano and Sinait Mayor Edgar Yabes. It's the Gilroy (California) Garlic Festival of the Philippines!


 

TABAKO FESTIVAL


A colorful thanksgiving festival in the province of Ilocos Sur.

Candon City being the trading center of Ilocos Sur celebrates the annual Tobacco Festival as a way of thanksgiving for the bounty harvest of Tobacco. The Tobacco industry is still the major livelihood of the Ilocono folks in the Ilocos Region.
